Las Esperanzas
By the mid-1960s, the work being done by House of Hope came to the attention of a group of women on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. They banded together under the name Las Esperanzas, “The Hopeful Ones,” for the purposes of raising money and donating volunteer hours to support the good works. During the next 43 years they would raise hundreds of thousands of dollars and volunteer a like number of hours to House of Hope.
Las Esperanzas continues to play a crucial role in the growth and success of the Foundation. Members give many hours of volunteer service to the women of House of Hope. Among the activities devoted to House of Hope’s women are an annual Holiday gift-giving reception and dinner, and an ice cream social. They also conduct a weekly group session with the women, offering them support and encouragement. Through their fundraising efforts, Las Esperanzas raise over $15,000 a year to support House of Hope. They stage a fundraising fashion show each spring and conduct a year-long raffle with winner’s drawn every month.
Las Esperanzas meets very 2nd Thursday of the month at a members house. We get together socialize, have dinner, and plan events.
