Bobbi has served as Executive Director since 2004. She began volunteering at House of Hope in 1995. Not long after, Bobbi was invited to join the Board of Directors where her experience as a business owner was valued. Bobbi went on to serve several terms as Board President before filling the Executive Director position. Ms. Tschirgi was educated in psychology and medical illustration and was the owner of a manufacturing business for over 25 years.
Maricela is a House of Hope graduate. Maricela has extensive experience as an accounting specialist and is responsible for bookkeeping activities, property management, contract billing, administrative support and donor communications. Maricela is the Human Resources Director for House of Hope.
Claudia serves as the Compliance Administrator for House of Hope. Claudia Murillo has been in the alcohol and drug counseling profession since 2008. She is certified as a CADC-II (#A011540315) with the California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals (CCAPP; formerly CAADAC). Claudia served as Regional Vice President for CAADAC from 2012 to 2014, and has worked as a Program Coordinator of Drug Court, Domestic Violence and Intensive Outpatient Programs. Claudia volunteers her time as a founding board member of STAT Sobriety Services (STAT) and serves as its Director of Operations.
Administrative Support Personnel
Gavi has a background in graphic arts and her talents can be seen on many of the House of Hope publications including marketing brochures, flyers, and the annual fundraiser event materials. Gavi is a proud graduate of House of Hope and manager of one of House of Hope’s Sober Living facilities.
Outreach / Community Relations
For many years Chris supported “the House” by bringing a panel of recovering women to share experience, strength, and hope, essential elements in 12-Step recovery. Chris joined House of Hope after a 32 year career with a national corporation. Chris’s background was in Contract Administration as well as Project and Account management.
Dr. Richard Merrick, MD, ABAM, DFASAM
Dr. Merrick provides oversite as our Medical Director. Dr. Merrick was employed by a major Medical Center in Southern California for over 40 years; during his tenure he served as Physician-in-Charge and Chief of the Chemical Dependency Recovery Program. Dr. Merrick has recently been named a Diplomate of the American Board of Addiction Medicine and is a Distinguished Fellow in the American Society of Addiction Medicine.
Clinical Director of Programs
Myrra is a CAADE certified counselor (#112518) and holds a certificate in Alcohol and Drug Studies from CSUDH. Myrra conducts groups as part of the primary program and also supervises Intake assessments as well as the Sober Living and Independent Living programs.
Lead Counselor and Assistant to the Clinical Director of Programs
Ms. Friday provides individual counseling with clients and performs intake assessments and admissions. Ms. Friday is a CAADE certified counselor (#112519) and has career certificates in chemical dependency and alcohol and drug studies.
Barbara Bishop, LMFT
Clinical Director of Health Care Services
Barbara Bishop, LMFT, is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (#LMFT 38391). Barbara provides individual counseling, facilitates a weekly dream group and is in charge of the Family Therapy group. Prior to joining House of Hope, Barbara worked as a therapist in private practice as well as another drug rehabilitation program. Barbara taught at Marymount College; holding a PhD in English and a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology.
Drug and Alcohol Counselor
Jim Morrow is a Registered Addiction Specialist (RAS) (#M050510540), and serves as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor for the House of Hope. Jim provides both individual and group counseling, and leads groups ranging from Grief and Loss to Domestic Violence, and PTSD/“Seeking Safety.” Jim also co-facilitates Family Night.
Valarie Robinson is the Intake Coordinator and the first point of contact for screening. Valarie is manager of a House of Hope Sober Living residence and is also the Health and Safety monitor for the overall facility.
Drug and Alcohol Counselor
Stephanie Brown is an MFT intern (#IMF70154) and has been a drug and alcohol counselor at House of Hope since 2010. Stephanie meets one-on-one with clients for individualized counseling. Stephanie also facilitates an Anger Management group and co-facilitates Family Night.
